Wealth: Always In Formation

Ongoing formation is the essence of all types of wealth:  our relationship with God or our spiritual nature, our families, our friendships, our roles in our communities, our intellect, our health, our businesses or careers, and certainly our financial wealth.

The only constant is change.  If you are not growing, you are dying.  Quitters never win, winners never quit.  A ship in the harbor is safe, but that is not what the ship is built for.   Change before you have to.  A wise person changes their mind, a fool never does.  Change can be painful, but not more painful than being stuck where you do not belong.  Good things take time.  With change comes opportunity.  These are all forms of quotes that we’ve heard in one way, shape or form over the course of our lives, and bear embracing.

Take a few minutes to think about where the status of your monetary wealth is right now.  Think back to how you have arrived at where you are currently.  How did you build it?  Why did you build it?  Then, look to the present and the future.  How do you want your wealth to serve you and other people or causes that are important to you?  What is your vision?  What is your plan?  Are you building your wealth, protecting your wealth, optimizing your wealth, or utilizing your wealth?  Some people have a fallacy that is really a fantasy, that there is a point in time that money does not have to be tended to or managed.  The reality is that you may be able to park your efforts for a period of time and feel safe.  But the world around you will change.  Tax laws will change.  Distribution rules will change.  Inflation will change.  Opportunities will come and go.  The needs of our families and communities change.  Organizations around us change.  At some point, the wealth you have accumulated will transfer to those you have left it to, either purposefully or inadvertently, and there are only three options:  people, organizations and the government. How are you being informed?  How are you forming your plans?  Tend to your wealth with purpose, because it is always in formation.
